Improved flight search – Route Ranking for flights

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Last week we released Route ranking for trains. Now we have it for flights too. Once you click on the stars which depict the rating you see a pull down as shown in picture below:

flight route rating dialog

flight route rating dialog

You can see the the 90di engine tries to analyze a lot of parameters that makes sense for a flight journey, e.g. the carrier type, overall duration etc. and gives a ranking to the route on a scale of 10.

You can give your opinion on the engine’s analysis as well as give comments about any aspect of the route.

We intend to use your comments to improve the engine’s analysis and ranking further over time.

Your comments are most welcome.

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

We are constantly making changes to our UI so that you get the maximum benefit from our search results. In this process we are now showing the results in a tabbed view. The results are categorized into only train routes, only flight routes and routes having trains and flights, and displayed in different tabs.

Following is a screen shot of the same.

Headstart very near

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

We had blogged about HeadStart event some time back. The event is on 9th and 10th January 2009 at the NIMHANS Convention Centre, Bangalore.

HeadStart 2009

Monday, November 10th, 2008

Its HeadStart time again!!

For the uninitiated: HeadStart is an annual event, held at Bangalore, for Startups. Co-located along with the academic conference Compute (which has backings of ACM Bangalore and big sponsors like HP, IBM, Infosys, Rediff etc…)

What happens at HeadStart is that, few of the nominated products are selected for several tracks like Internet, Mobile, Enterprise etc (typically 5 for each of the tracks). People behind the chosen products – individuals or companies are allowed to demonstrate their product to the audience.

The audience has lot of experts(been-there-done-that kind) in every track and also a lot of potential investors (VCs) and of course potential partners in other Startups.

It was our privilege to have been selected for the Internet track in the last event (the inaugural one HeadStart 2008) held at IISc, Bangalore and over there we got a chance to showcase our travel search engine – 90di.com/travel.

Our experience has been that the organizers of HeadStart are a bunch of very dedicated and enthusiastic folks. And they are doing a very nice service to Startups, like ours.

So, Startups looking for opportunities to present their stuff and ideas to a very elite audience. Go for it. Guess, time is there till November end (just a few weeks left) to nominate your product/company.

Hello World and launch of 90di multi-lingual features

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Hello 90di users!

This is the first blog entry from me. Hoping to write many more.

Using this opportunity to announce the release of of 90DI multi-lingual. So from today 90di.com shall speak Hindi and Kannada apart from English. This is one more way we thought of customizing 90di for Indian users, by making it more localized!

You will notice that as of now it is only partial Hindi and partial Kannada. You can see that the labels, the instructions and messages are in the chosen language, but things like the names of places and stations/airports are still in English. Also the static pages are available only in English for now. Hopefully, we will be able to release a full non english version some time soon.

We also hope to add more languages soon. Which language should be added next? — You tell us!

1) Try out the site in hindi

2) Try out the site in kannada

Also requesting the users to point out any mistakes they find in the translation. Or better phrases in a particular language. Also please do give your invaluable feedback on this feature.
